I came across this poll on twitter to name the best British car ever, I find one of the top 10 is the Ford GT40. It doesn’t offend me as I’m British but it might offend some of you who have preferences to bald eagles over say a Peregrine Falcon.

It’s argued that while it was big American power that gave it speed, its engineering and construction in Britain is what counts. Anyway, I’m voting for the Mini.

I voted for the E-Type. The McLaren would have it, but it's powered by Germany. The Range Rover was up there, but not exactly a car.

True, but I have such a hard on for the F1, I couldn’t pick anything else. A lot of comment here talk about the cobra but I’d argue that it’s even more British than a gt40.

I love the F1 (and just about everything McLaren, which I've subtly hinted at with my avatar), and had they tabled the question about the best or favored car by a British manufacturer, the F1 world have had my vote.
